Fountain pens need to be restored occasionally. The rubber bladder or ink sac on the
inside will deteriorate, but typically has a 10-year life. High-quality 14-carat gold nibs
can be accidentally bent as the pen is dropped, or the iridium tips at the very can be
broken off. Or the surface of the tips can simply be worn out through heavy use so that
the pen no longer writes smoothly.
The Fountain Pen Shop specializes in the repair and restoration old fountain pens for
both appearance and performance. In most cases, we can make vintage pens look and write
like new, enhancing their value as collectibles. We do most of the work in-house,
including all parts replacements and cosmetic work. We have sources of remanufactured
parts for most fountain pens, including vintage pens. We only vend out the rebuilding of
nibs to specialized companies.
There are more variables and fewer available parts with ball-point pens, so that we can
only restore ball-point pens in some of the cases.
